Melbourne Notary Public Services For Croatia

Are you in Melbourne and need documents notarised for Croatia?

Our Melbourne Public Notary regularly assists people from Croatia to notarise their property, business and legal documents for Croatia. For example, if you want another person to act on your behalf in Croatia, you will need to sign and notarise a power of attorney (autorizacija, punomoć, ovlašćenje, or opunomoćenje) if you are in Melbourne. Please ask your lawyer in Croatia to prepare the documents you want notarised. 

We also regularly certify copies of Australian documents including education documents, birth certificates (krštenica), marriage certificates (vjenčanica) and death certificates (smrtovnica).

After your documents have been notarised, we can assist with corresponding with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to have an apostille stamp applied to the document which we often do for clients. 

Notarising a power of attorney (punomoć) in Australia

If you are in Melbourne, you can authorise someone in Croatia to act on your behalf by signing a power of attorney (punomoć) in front of a notary public. This saves you a lot of time in flying to Croatia to deal with property, business or personal matters which is very common to do. The punomoć needs to be signed in front of a notary public who will witness your signature, confirm your identity and then notarise the punomoć. You will then need an Apostille Stamp from DFAT. You should seek legal advice from your lawyer in Croatia and ask them to prepare the power of attorney so that it can be used in Croatia. Careful scrutiny should be applied to ensure the power of attorney contains the proper form and content to be effective in Croatia. The punomoć does not need to be translated into English or be in English because it is a legal document to be used in Croatia. Ideally, your Croatian punomoć should be written in Croatian. We can witness your signature on the power of attorney. You only need to have the power of attorney translated into English if you do not understand the Croatian language. 

Relinquishing entitlement to family inheritance (Naslednička Izjava) for Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia

If you are in Melbourne and have ownership or entitlement to a family inheritance in Europe, such as in Croatia, Bosnia or Serbia, you can sign a form which relinquishes your entitlement to family inheritance (Naslednička Izjava). Our Melbourne Public Notary has helped people relinquish their share in family estates through witnessing their signature on hereditary statements such as Naslednička Izjava. At times, family members may have disputes and the law of that country requires all family members to sign to deal with property matters. In this respect, some family members may choose to give up their share to the deceased estate to avoid the hassle and complications involved when there are not much assets.

You will need to get your lawyer in Europe to prepare the relevant forms to sign prior to booking your appointment with our Melbourne Public Notary. Please ensure you bring relevant photo identification to the appointment. If you want your documents legalised by DFAT in the most efficient manner, we can correspond directly with DFAT on your behalf to obtain an apostille stamp.
