Do you need a Melbourne Notary Public to notarise your power of attorney to sell, sublet and manage your Housing and Development Board Flat (HDB flat)? With strong ties to Singapore, our public notary in Melbourne is familiar with HDB flats and we are often engaged by Singaporeans who own real estate property in Singapore to witness and notarise power of attorney to appoint an attorney to deal with and manage their property. If you cannot be physically present in Singapore to sign documents or access information, you can appoint an attorney by signing a power of attorney.
Please contact your lawyer in Singapore to prepare the power of attorney for HDB flat to comply with the law in Singapore and that takes into account your specific situation. An Australian power of attorney is not suitable for use in Singapore.
Our Public Notary can witness and certify the power of attorney used in Singapore for sale, subletting and general management of your HDB flat. For example, if you are buying or selling a HDB flat, your attorney might need to sign an Option to Purchase, Application forms, Declaration forms and other legal documents as part of the transaction. Your attorney can sign these documents with your legal authority if you have the power of attorney. Please note that if you are using CPF monies to purchase a flat, you might require the services of the Singapore High Commission.
Please ensure that whoever owns the HDB flat will need to attend our Melbourne CBD office and sign the power of attorney in front of the notary public. You will need to provide photo identification documents for verification of identity. Our Melbourne Public notary will then notarise your Singaporean power of attorney. We can arrange for your notarised documents to be legalised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and post your documents to your lawyer in Singapore. Your Singaporean lawyer will need to register the power of attorney with the Singapore High Court registry for it to be valid. Withdrawing from your Singapore CPF
If you have renounced your Singaporean citizenship or residency and want to withdraw from your Singapore CPF, you will need to contact the Singapore High Commission because the CPF Board requires certification of non-original documents to be witnessed and/certified by the Singapore High Commission.
If you travel to Canberra, you can use the Services of the Singaporean High Commission in Canberra which provides notarial services including attestation and certification of signatures and stamps, and witnessing of signature(s) on Statutory Declarations or Affidavit for use in Singapore.
