What is family violence?
As defined in Section 5 of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, domestic or family violence is conduct towards a member of a family that is physically, sexually, psychologically, emotionally or financially abusive and puts the affected family member in fear for their own safety or the safety of other family members. Domestic violence against a child is established if it is proven that the child witnessed such behaviour.
