From 6 April 2022, all ETA-eligible passport holders must apply for an ETA through the Australian ETA mobile phone app. As of 21 April 2022, ETA lodgement can no longer be done via ImmiAccount.
If you are unable to apply for an ETA through the app, you must apply for another visa that suits your needs through ImmiAccount.
All ETA holders must be genuine temporary visitors. If you stay in Australia for long periods or make frequent visits to Australia, the Department may question your travel purpose the next time you enter Australia. If the Department believes you are not a genuine visitor, your ETA may be cancelled.
If you have a criminal conviction in any country or will be entering health care or hospital environments, you cannot apply for an ETA. You should apply for a subclass 600 Visitor visa.
